Do you like designing your own things? Jewellery or little bags – things you'll enjoy using every day? Then this birthday is just right for you! Make your own creation and join a real treasure hunt for unique pieces of jewellery, big and small, in the exhibition: flowers, birds and ornaments can be found on many of the museum's pieces – on dresses, jewellery boxes, even pincushions. Embroidered, or decorated with beads or gold, each one is unique and still bears witness to the craftsmanship behind it and to how precious these things were to the people who used them. Using simple techniques you'll make your own creations, such as key rings, scented sachets or little bags. Once you've made your own work of art and had a snack, it's off to the exhibition. By the end, even beginners will notice how easy embroidery, sewing or braiding is. You just have to get started. Every child may take their work home – to keep or to give away. Because one thing they are not: throwaway products.
